Instructions to download:
You have 2 options to work on your preferred dataset:
Use Google Sheets online to answer questions. Click on File >> Make a Copy, so it saves the file to your Google account. This enables you to use online spreadsheet without any additional software needs.
Use Microsoft Excel to answer questions locally on your computer. For this, open any dataset from above, click File >> Download as Microsoft Excel. Using this method, you can answer questions without internet as the file is local on your computer.

Hints for Solving the Tracks

Instructions for Participants:
Select a Track: Choose any one of the Climate Data Tracks listed below. Each track focuses on different aspects of climate data analysis.
Access the Spreadsheet:
Navigate to the desired track from the list provided.
A Google Spreadsheet linked to that track will open.
Go to File > Download to Make a Copy to create a personal copy for your use.
Complete the Analysis:
Analyze the data using the spreadsheet you copied.
Answer all 15 questions listed in your spreadsheet, applying your data analysis skills.
Prepare for Submission:
Add your name to the top of the spreadsheet where indicated.
Rename the file by adding your name to the existing filename to personalize it.
Submit Your Work:
Click on the submission link provided.
Upload the completed spreadsheet using the form linked in the submission area.
Software Use:
You are free to use any software that supports spreadsheet functions, such as Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, etc.
Ensure that you only use built-in formulas and functionalities of the software to maintain fairness.

We will kick off this data analytics competition with a preliminary webinar titled:
Understanding Climate Variables and Weather Elements, by Poulomi Chakravarty, PhD
Participants can register for this preliminary webinar using a sign up form.
The webinar will be hosted on Zoom and also live streamed on Youtube, and made available via this website.
This workshop is an educational session explaining key climate variables and how to calculate them using google sheets, laying the groundwork for the competition.
Duration: 1 hour
Welcome address and a brief overview of the event’s structure and goals
An engaging session detailing key climate variables, their significance, and the role they play in understanding global climate dynamics.
