Climate Riddles - Climate Conundrum Challenge invites K12 (Grade 6-10) students anywhere on Earth to tackle the pressing questions of our planet's future through problem-solving and story telling.
By participating, students will contribute to a deeper understanding of climate issues, developing innovative solutions that are as practical as they are educational. This challenge serves as a platform for the next generation to express their ideas and become active players in the global dialogue on sustainability.

General Instructions:
If you’re a high school student (grades 6-10), review the comprehension tracks available starting 22nd April at 8 AM.
Select the track that resonates with your interests and eligibility.
Analyze the climate issue documents and work through the problems.
Submit your solutions using the submission form on the event page before the deadline: Sunday, May 5th, 2024 by 11:59 PM.

Select a Scenario: Choose any one of the Climate Riddles Scenarios listed.
Access the Document: Make a Copy of the Google Doc containing the scenario by going to File option and Download.
Instructions to download:
You have 2 options to work on your preferred dataset:
Use Google Docs to answer questions. Click on File >> Make a Copy, so it saves the file to your Google account. This enables you to use online Google Doc without any additional software needs.
Use Microsoft Word to answer questions locally on your computer. For this, open any dataset from above, click File >> Download as Microsoft Word. Using this method, you can answer questions without internet as the file is local on your computer.
Complete the Tasks: Analyze the scenario and answer all 10 questions in your copy of the document. You are free to use as many pages as you like.
Prepare for Submission: Add your name and email to the top of the document, and save it as a PDF.

Top 3 winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:
Story Mastery: Participants must demonstrate a deep comprehension of the environmental issue presented in the story.
Effective Communication: Entries should clearly and effectively explain the climate problem and the reasoning behind the proposed solution.
Innovative and Applicable Solution: Submissions must present a creative solution that is not only innovative but also practical and feasible to implement in addressing the specific climate challenge.
Agenda for Onsite Event for Christ Church High School, Patna, India
Overview: Engage students in grades 6-10 in a series of interactive and educational sessions aimed at enhancing their understanding of climate issues and developing their analytical and critical thinking skills.

Session Details:
Day 1 - Introduction to Climate and Environmental Challenges:
Duration: 60 minutes
Facilitator: Dr. Poulomi Chakravarty
An overview of the current status of global climate and environmental challenges. This session will set the stage for the competition, providing students with the necessary background to understand the context of the issues they will address.
Day 2 - Exploration of Climate Issues and Competition Tracks:
Duration: 120 minutes
Lecture: Detailed discussion of 2-4 specific climate issues. This session includes a demonstration of how each issue can be approached, with examples of questions that students will tackle during the competition.
Walkthrough of the student worksheets, detailing the climate issue descriptions and associated questions. Strategies on how to effectively address these questions will be shared, equipping students with the tools needed to analyze and respond to each scenario.
Submission Process Tutorial:
Duration: 30-60 minutes
Content: Instructions on how to submit their completed worksheets. Both hardcopy submissions and online submissions through Google Forms will be covered, ensuring all students are clear on how to proceed with their entries.

Please Note: The gap between Session 1 and Session 2 is larger than anticipated due to extreme heatwave conditions in India, which have led to irregular schedules.

Event Overview Session 2 focused on climate issue exploration and competition preparation, with a detailed session followed by tutorials on submission processes, including the Planet Prosper Pledge.

Worksheet Walkthrough: Guidance on tackling questions related to climate challenges, equipping students with strategies to analyze and respond effectively.

Worksheets Submission: Instructions on submitting worksheets both in hardcopy and online via Google Forms.
Planet Prosper Pledge: Tutorial on creating and submitting video pledges in local languages, including Bhojpuri, Magahi, and Maithili, focusing on technical aspects of video creation and submission.
